If you are looking for a relaxing and care-free vacation, an all-inclusive (AI) resort is the way to go. All-inclusive means you pay one flat price for your room, all meals, drinks, taxes, and activities within the resort property. Hidden fees can ruin the relaxed mood you’re aiming for while vacationing. All-inclusive prevents that shock at check-out. In many cases your flat price will include non-motorized water sports, entertainment, room service, and gratuities. These resorts go above and beyond to provide excellent service. Many upscale resorts add other perks and excursions to their package.
Even with all-inclusive resorts, there is a wide range of pricing. Like all areas of the hospitality industry, the amenities, furnishings, food quality, level of personalized service and pampering will vary. This is usually reflected in the up-front package price. If cost is not a factor, you can bathe in the most luxurious surroundings with a 24-hour private butler. If you have a limited budget, take a mental inventory of what services or features of a resort are most important and communicate those with your Travel Agent. They know which lower cost resorts have the best services and value. Being on a budget does not mean you can’t enjoy luxury and world-class service, but don’t trust pretty pictures or reviews on booking sites to find a lower cost resort.
Most resorts are family-friendly and can satisfy a multi-generational group.
High-end all-inclusive resorts include golf greens fees, spa services, motorized watersports, scuba dives and excursions. When you move away from the high-end all-inclusive resorts (which is most of them), some of those added perks are not part of the standard all-inclusive package. Resorts without these added perks are sometimes a better value, but if you want a spa treatment or would enjoy renting a jet ski, there is usually an extra cost.
Most all-inclusive resorts also offer specialty or a la carte restaurants, which may require reservations. Other resorts may also charge a fee for specialty dining. Many of your lower cost all-inclusive resorts offer more buffet dining in their package price, while higher-end resorts include more al la carte options. House wines and spirits are always included in your package, but you may have to pay more or use resort credits for premium wine or spirits.
Luxury cruise lines often include all dining options, alcohol and excursions, but some of the mainstream cruise lines offer packages to make them all-inclusive. Let your travel agent know you want an all-inclusive experience and they can help you navigate the promotions to find the right cruise.
